He is the author of "The Future of Energy". John has worked across energy in senor roles in district heating, decentralised energy, power generation, oil & gas, and energy distribution. John has delivered complex engineering projects, led businesses, and shared ideas on the future of the energy system. He has written several globally recognised books on the energy transition and presents regularly on the importance of supporting energy policy and investment with sound technical principles. In 2021 John’s book on the Future of Energy was awarded non-fiction book of the year by the American Energy Society. John is a chartered engineer and fellow of both the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and the Energy Institute. He holds an MBA in Global Energy from Warwick Business School. In 2023 he became a Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor in Energy and Sustainability.
